Luton Dunstable Busway Contemporary History Trail – Artwork 2

Kites 2013

This sculpture celebrates the Downs and the popular activity of kite flying there. The sculpture also celebrates local businesses at the height of Dunstables manufacturing past.

The kites here represent: A spark for AC Delco spark plug production, A pattern from a paper doily, and confetti – all of which were produced in the area.

The sculpture was designed by Artist Pete Moorhouse. His ideas were informed by community consultation and workshops with several local schools; St Georges, Icknield Lower School, King’s Houghton Middle School and Central Bedfordshire College.
